Village of the Damned

Back in the 80’s and the early 90’s, my siblings and I, along with my kiddie cousins would watch lots of movies during the summer break. One of the few horror movies that made an indelible mark in the psyche was “Village of the Damned”. I had long forgotten the title, actually. I just googled, “horror movie kids with white hair” to find the title and some video clips. I even found out that it was already a remake of the original from 1960. Thanks, Google. Looks even creepier in black and white.

I’m not usually into scary movies. But kids like to be spooked by nature. Aside from the spooks, what made it interesting for me was that it starred Superman, a.k.a. Christopher Reeve. I’d watch anything with Superman in it. Also in the cast was Luke Skywalker. Not a big fan, though. Just shared for a bit of trivia.

Updates and Random Stuff

What have I been up to lately?..

Driving a lot… trying to remove my fear of the big roads and the crowded car parks.  Getting there. Meanwhile, I am a big fan of the roundabouts now… more practical and efficient than stop lights.

Trying very hard not to overshare on social media. I have removed facebook on my phone… wait, was it a good idea to share that here? If you have not yet put a tape on your computer’s webcam and microphone, do it NOW.

Planning future travels. So excited!

Learning to paint in Watercolor. It’s not as easy as it looks. But so far, I really love how the paint does not stink at all, or not get in the way of healthy breathing, unlike acrylics and pastel.

Nintendo Entertainment System Classic Edition

Ever since I saw an article on the internet that there is going to be a new Nintendo Entertainment System in a mini console with HDMI port, I have been salivating over it. I really wanted to get one for myself for Christmas. Even more so, when I have a colleague who actually managed to buy one and brought it to the office. I’ve been longing to be able to play my favorite Nintendo games again, especially since I have a full week to spend at home during the Christmas holiday, with my brother coming for a visit along with his family. It would be so nice to play the games with my brother again just like when we were kids in the 80’s.

Imagine my dismay and shock when I found out that Nintendo did not deliver enough stock. And that a lot of scalpers have taken advantage of this limited stock and are now selling them four times (or more) the original price. See angry comments on Amazon.com. This is really absurd, crazy and unreasonable. And very, very cruel on the part of Nintendo.

Three Years at Being a (Not-So-Smug) Mom

my little kitten and moi
I’m not really in the habit of talking about being a mom so much, as I think it bores and annoys most people. I remember back when I was single, I thought about parents, especially new parents as smug, self-righteous and overbearingly annoying, especially when they are bragging about their kids and offering you unsolicited advice on how to become a good parent even when you’re not even a parent yet, or have no plans of being one.

Talking Pretty

i would say that a lot about being pretty is a lot about how you feel about yourself. i mean, if you feel pretty and believe you are pretty, then, others will also see you as pretty. and no matter how much others say that you are pretty, but you don’t really feel pretty, then… it’s a pretty lot of waste of pretty.

now, i don’t always feel or think i’m pretty. there are just days when i feel totally drab and ugly. but it’s quite surprising though, when someone unexpectedly tells you that you look pretty. like, out of the blue. catching you out of your wits. especially if it’s coming from a stranger. and a woman. i just hope she’s not lesbian, though. the compliment just totally took me by surprise because it was so unexpected. i didn’t know what to say. it’s usually me who compliments others first. i’m quite generous with compliments. i don’t understand people who aren’t. is it because it makes them feel less privileged than the other person?..

it’s good to tell people how pretty they look, even if they don’t return back the compliment or they rarely give any. because talking pretty attracts a whole lot of pretty. and i say this pretty much out of experience. 😉
